ACTING CHAIRMAN'S CHAT
Term 3, 2009
I had really hoped that Hunt would be back by now writing this chat but unfortunately, just when he was recovering nicely from his operation, he suffered a mild stroke which affected his ability to swallow and he ended up in Wellington Hospital. On last report he was improving slowly and making some progress towards receiving sustenance by mouth. We all wish him a speedy recovery and return to good health.
Term three classes are progressing well and we have small but enthusiastic groups of members studying Desktop Publishing, Spread Sheets, Email and Internet and Genealogy as well as the usual courses.
The Digital Camera Club interest group met on Friday 21 August, (always the third Friday of the month), and ten enthusiastic members attended but the designated speaker from Cartridge World was unable to be present due to business pressure so Ron spoke on using the computer for video editing. The "Photo of the Month" was won by Peter Badart with his "Spring Blossoms".
Remember any of our members can attend any meeting when it suits them. Just turn up with your digital camera and a gold coin entry fee.
SeniorNet Porirua, on behalf of The Federation, is hosting a Regional Meeting/Tutor
Training day, on Wednesday 30 September commencing at 10.00 am and continuing
until 3.30 pm, in the Helen Smith Community room, Pataka. Lunch will be provided
and all committee and tutors are welcome.
Grant Sidaway, the Federation CEO, is having a well deserved break visiting
his daughter in the UK but will be back on 28 August.
On behalf of The Federation I would like to thank all our members who registered with Telstra Clear and also those who responded to The Federation initiated survey.
You are reminded of e-Day, which this year, will be held on Saturday 12 September. This is a great opportunity to get rid of all unused computer equipment for safe disposal. Info and sites near you are on: www.eday.org.nz
